Halloween Glow

Hi Friends
Today it's my (Cicci's) turn to show you some colouring here at the Copic Europe Blog.
I'm going to show how I make some glow in my colouring.
I have coloured an image from Make it Crafty, called Witchy Concoctions.

I really love this little witch :0))

Making some GLOW

Image 1
I have started with the colour thats going to be the glow at/over the image
I have used Y02

Image 2
Blend out the Y02 a little with Y00 and add more Y02 and Y00 around the cauldron

Now  it's time to colour the cauldron. Start colouring nearest the edges with BV25. (This area will be the darkerst part, furthest from the fire. The fire gives you light source.)
Blend out with BV23.

Blend with the C3. Be careful, you don't colour too much dark colours on the yellow parts. If you do, you won't have any glow left!

Add more C3 over the whole cauldron, using light strokes. Don't colour over the fire. Add more darker colours from the C family. I have used C5 and C7.

Blend out the C7 and C5 with C3.

Add a lots of yellow above the fire and on the cauldron and add more yellow (Y02) for the soup.

Here, I have added Y02, Y00 and FY1 for the fire.

The Hat
  Copic Combo; E11, E15, E47, E49, FY1, FYR1 and V05, V04. (I added yellow at the start of the colouring with Y02 and Y00.)
For extra glow on the hat, I have used V05 and V04.

Y00, Y02, E15

Add some FYR1 on the hat and fire. Blend with Y02 and Y00. Blend E13 in the area you coloured with E15.

Around the cauldron, I have added RV02 for some effect and I used more colours on the hat and the chair; E11, E15, E47, Y00 and FY1.

I have also added some green in the soup, just some dots, I'm going to blend out later.

I also blend with B000 over the cauldron on the grey colours. Do not colour too much over the yellow parts because you will end up with green colours! So add B000 with very light strokes.

As you can see in the photo above I added some more colours for the fire. I used E08 because I want the part thats going to be darker in the fire. I have not taken a marker from the R-family because I think that would be too red. I think E08 would be better for this. Blend E08 with FY1 and Y02.

The Chair
Copic Combo; Y02, Y00, E11, E15.
(The Yellow I added at the start of the colouring; Y02, Y00.)

Blend out each colour with lighter markers. In this case, blend Y02 with Y00, E15 blended with E11 etc.
For the chair I am going to add more layers with E11 and E15 later. I am also going to add a darker marker from the E Family; E47 and E49.

Add E47 for the screws in the chair.

I'm going to do the same thing with the clothes; starting from dark colours and continuing to light markers.

Dress
Copic Combo; V09, V06, V04, V17.
(The yellow I added at the start of the colouring; Y02, Y00.)
Add your colours and blend each time. When you add colours on the yellow parts do that with gentle strokes.

Now it's time to make a background for this wonderful image!

This is my Background Combo
Sky: B000, V000, V15, BV02, V25, V28, B99, B39, V01, V04
Trees: E49, E43, E39, E41, E79, E81, E84, E87, E89, E70, E74
Little House: E71, E74, Y13, Y06, Y28
Spider: Black Copic, SP 0.05
Spiderweb: White Gell pen
Forest: E84, E81, YG95, YG99, V20, V25, V28, B99, B39
Carpet: E41, E40, E43, E47, E49, Y21
Ground: E81, E84, YG00, Y02, YG95, Y13, Y06
YG93, YG95, YG99, YG01
Moon: C0, B000, C3, Y00, V000
Stars: White Posca Pen

I added a last touch to the glow and added stronger yellow when I was ready with the whole background. It's easier to see what's missing when you have added all your other colours.
I used:
Y13, Y06, FYR1.
I also made some dots in the glow with B00, V04, YG00 and did some strokes over the cauldron with my gell pen.

Have a great day everyone, and have a wonderful Halloween

:0)

See you Next Month

it's not the size of your house

Hi everyone, I am back with a second post, a small art journal page this time.

I used a friendly critter and his adorable house by Paper Artsy.

1. Start with a thin layer of BG01 and colour the skin.
2. Use BG09 to make the shadows.
3. Make the shadows a bit lighter with the BG07.
4. Blend all layers together with FBG02 and BG01.

5. Add a layer of BV02  and make some shadow with BV04.
6. Use BV08 to make the shadows darker.
7. Blend all the layers together with BV02.
8. Add V12 to colour the sweater. Use V15 andV17 to add shadows and blend all layers together with V12.

My friendly little critter is ready now, time to colour his cute house.

9. I use BV02 for the fist layer of the roof and add shadows with BV04.
10. Make the shadows darker with BV08.
11. Blend all the layers together with the BV02.
12. For the rest of the house I use V12, V15 and V17 for the building. And BG01, BG07, BG09, B12 B04 for the door and window.

The images are now ready for cutting out.

Finished page.
For the quote I used the multiliners, size 0.3 mm.
The quote is by JL Logan.

Have a wonderful and creative Sunday.
See you next month,

Miranda

A Halloween Cutie

Hello everyone! It's Delphine here today to share some Halloween inspiration, now or never is the time and I enjoy these seasonal cards too much, so Halloween it is :)! I used an image by Tiddly Inks called Halloween Cutie Sweet Tooth Witch.

I coloured the skin first in E000, 00, 04, 11 and then did the background with YR02 and 04, colouring doing little circles without trying to achieve good blending.

I then coloured the rest of my witch using V09, 15, 17 for the purple, 100, C7, C9 for the black, RV04 and 06 for the pink. I put the shadows on the left of my image since it was logical to have the witch looking towards the light - so I put my light source coming from the top right corner.

I then coloured the cauldron in 100, C7 and C9 and since the Copic colouring was done, I put Distress Inks (Dried Marigold and Carved Pumpkin) around the edges of my card to give a bit more depth. I then decided to add details in Polychromo pencils too, so I used skin tones to go back on the face and I also added a bit of pencil to the dress and hat.

I stamped stitches with a Bo Bunny stamp and added the last details: my Make it Crafty Boo Chipboard covered in glitter pen, little gold dots on the background and dress and a few sequins.

Here is the finished card and the list of all the colours I used:

Skin: E000, 00, 04, 11
Hair: 100, BV04, C7, 9
Purple: V09, 15, 17
Pink: RV04, 06
Cauldron: 100, C7, 9
Yellow: Y11, 26
Background: YR02, 04

Thank you very much for your visit, have a Happy Halloween season! Hugs,
Delphine xx

Girls and cats

Hi lovely Copic friends , I (Miranda) have a very special creation to share.
By the end of this month my first product line will be released by Studio Light and I really wanted to show you how I coloured my images using the Copic Markers.

I have used several sets to create an art journalpage.

The little cute hearts are coloured with RV02, 04, 06 and 09.
I used the lightest colour first, which is your RV02. Then I used the darkest one, the RV09 and work my way back to the lightest colour with the RV04 and 06. In the end I blend all colours together again with the RV02.

Sometimes the darkest colours get lighter due to the blending with the lighter colours. Then add a little bit of the darkest colour again.

The colours I have used for colouring the cute tiny flowers are:
petals- V04, 05 and 06
floral heart - Y17
leaves and stem - YG13, 17

Isn't my kitten adorable?
I used green to colour the kitten.
I used G12, 14 and 16. Later I also added some YG13, to get it more yellowish green.
For the eyes I've used Y17 and R20 and BV00 for the ears.

For this cat I've used my favorite purples, V04, 05, 06 and 09.
Start again with the lightest colour, the V02. In the next step use the darkest purple V09 for the shades. And then I work my way back again to the lightest colour  using the V05 and 06.

The green eyes: YG13, G16 and Y17.

For the pink cat I use the RV02, 04, 06 and 09. Again start with your lightest colour.

I've used quite a lot of different colours.
I start colouring the skin with E50. Then I use the BV00 for shading. For the 3rd layer I use E00. Blend all layers together with E0000. After colouring the hair I decided to add some more E51, E00 and R20 to give the face more colour. And some W3 for more shading.

The hair I always colour the other way around. I start with the darkest colour first, the G16. Then the G14 and G12. I also added some YG13, because the G -colours turned out to be too blueish green.

The dress: RV02, 04, 06 and 09.
purple dots: V05 and 06
shading on the apron; BV00 and 0000

And this is my art joburnal page.
Hope you like it.

See you again soon,
Miranda

We are the Adams Family

Hi Everyone, it's Saskia here.
It's almost Halloween. I really like Halloween.   I am a very big fan of all kinds of creepy stories and series. One of my favorites, I think, is The Adams Family.
Before I show you how to easily create ghost windows with Copic Markers. Let me first tell you a little bit where Halloween comes from.
This information comes from Wikipedia.

Halloween is a holiday that is traditionally celebrated in Ireland, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada. Meanwhile, the party is becoming more and more popular in the Netherlands, Belgium and other European countries.
On the 31st of October, children will dress and bell or knock when darkness occurs at nearby houses decorated with pumpkins and light and call trick or treat, choosing between a trick or something trick (treat, usually sweets). The residents then give the children candies. Young adults sometimes go to Halloween.

The name "Halloween" is derived from Hallow-e'en, or All Hallows Eve (All Saints Evening), the evening for All Saints, November 1st.  In the Celtic calendar the year began on November 1st, so October 31 was New Year's Eve. The harvest was then in, the seed for the following year was ready and so had a free day, the Celtic New Year or Samhain (Saun pronunciation, which became the Irish word for the month of November).

Samhain was also very special for another reason.
On the island of Great Britain, Halloween was celebrated especially by the Celts, who believed that on that day the spirits of all died of the past year returned to try to inherit a living body for the coming year. The spirits that would rise from dead people were attracted by laying down food for them in front of the doors. However, to ward off the evil spirits, the Celts wore masks. When the Romans invaded Britain, they mixed the Celtic tradition with their own traditions, which at the end of October involved the celebration of the harvest and also the honor of the dead.

In the 9th century a European Christian use crossed the sea and mixed up with the halloween party. On all souls (November 2), clattered Christians walked around the villages and prayed for soul cake (bread with currants). For each loaf, they promised to pray for the dead relatives of the donor, in order to speed up his liberation from the temporal punishment of purgatory, thus speeding up his incarnation in. The trick or tread may well originate.

In the United States, the party especially rose during the second half of the 19th century when large groups of Irish and Scottish immigrants entered the country. In the US, the famous jack-o'-lantern appeared in this time, a hollowed pumpkin that appears on a face. Worldwide this may have become the most famous symbol of Halloween. For much of the 20th century, Halloween in the US was especially a children's party. During this children's party, the children dress at the door (often accompanied by an elder) in the evening and ask for a treat (trick or treat). The intention is to frighten those who open the window. Often the resident has candy in the house, from which the children can choose. The participating houses are recognizable by visible halloween decorations. From the 1980s, it became more and more a celebration for adults.   The dressings and the griege aspect became increasingly important after this time.

Easy way for colouring Ghost Windows.

Step 1: First colour your first part of the window with BG93.

Step 2: Then you colour the other half with YR31.

Step 3: You go with W3 all over both colours. By mixing these colours you get spooky look on the windows.

The images are digital stamps "Gomez and Morticia"  and "Wednesday and Pugsley" from Vera Lane Studio. The house is a digital stamps "Spooky-house" from Make it Crafty.
